2007 - NC Prevention Partners and Crescent PPO bring NC Prevention
Institute to Asheville
The availability
of high quality, affordable healthcare continues to be a major concern
of employers in Western North Carolina. The Employer Advisor Council
of Crescent PPO recently announced their support for an innovative
one-day training symposium to be presented in Asheville by NC Prevention
Partners (NCPP).
NCPP will present
proven prevention strategies and tools so that employers, hospitals
and healthcare providers can make changes that contain healthcare
costs and significantly improve health of employees and patients.
The NC Prevention Institute will focus on three concurrent educational
tracks for regional employers, those involved in the delivery of
healthcare, and a specific track for hospitals.
Crescent PPO
is a leading proponent of healthcare education in the region, and
its Employer Advisory Council (EAC) comprises representatives from
almost 100 key employers. "Each month, Crescent hosts a meeting
for all EAC member companies, and we usually invite a guest speaker
to present information that is relevant to attendees," commented
Crescent Chief Executive Officer, Myrna Harris (formerly
Myrna Harvey). "In September 2006, we devoted the meeting to a full
one-day seminar and opened it to the public. The success of that
meeting prompted us to plan the same type of event this year" she
added.
Meanwhile, NC
Prevention Partners, a statewide organization dedicated to building
effective prevention systems in NC communities and health systems
in order to improve health of all North Carolinians, was planning
a one-day educational event to be hosted in Wilmington in the Spring
and Asheville in the Fall. A collaboration between the two companies
was the natural result, with the NC Prevention Institute in Asheville,
organized by NC Prevention Partners and promoted by Asheville-based
Crescent PPO.
"We expect that
having a local partner for the Asheville event will be a significant
advantage," said Meg Molloy, Executive Director of NC Prevention
Partners. "Our goal is to make this an annual event to bring important
health-related information to employers, health care providers and
hospitals in the western part of the state."
Crescent PPO
is the Leadership Circle sponsor of the employer track at the NC
Prevention Institute. The Duke Endowment is a sponsor of the hospital
breakout track.
