Advanced
Toastmaster Award
(Asheville)
- Keith Challenger, Director of Marketing for Asheville-based
Crescent PPO has been awarded the Advanced Toastmaster designation
by Toastmasters International, the world-renown communication and
leadership training organization.
Challenger,
who also serves as the organization's Area Governor completed a
series of projects designed to improve personal communication and
encourage the development of leadership skills. He joins the more
than 2 Million people who have benefited from Toastmasters training
since the organization began in California in 1924.
"A major feature
of this program is the opportunity to work with a mentor," commented
Challenger who was assigned to work under the guidance of G.
Edison Hill, an Asheville attorney and Toastmasters member for
more than 50 years. Chuck Greene, an Asheville-based leadership
consultant to non-profits across the country, has studied membership
trends in volunteer organizations with a club or chapter structure.
He suggests that Toastmasters is one of a minority of such organizations
that remains viable in the 21st century and continues to experience
significant membership growth.
There are currently
five very active clubs in the Asheville area with new clubs being
established in the Ridgefield Business Center and VA Hospital as
well as Brevard and Hendersonville.
