For Immediate
Release:
(Asheville) - Crescent PPO, the region's largest preferred
provider organization, today announced the appointment of a new
Vice President of Health Management.
Sandra (Sandy)
Smith, RN, MSN, Ph.D., former Chief Operating Officer
and Senior Vice President of Margaret R. Pardee Hospital, will join
Crescent in January to lead the company's growing health management
program. As Vice President of Health Management, Sandy will work
closely with Crescent's Medical Director, Bob Peterson, MD,
to build on the success of the program that began more than a year
ago at Westcare Health Systems, and has already yielded significant
healthcare cost reduction for participating companies.
"Crescent is
a visionary organization engaged in promoting the health of the
region," commented Sandy. "It is an honor to be part of such an
important initiative."
Also announced
today was the promotion of former Director of Client Services, Pat
Hensley to Vice President of Client Services. Pat has played
a major role in Crescent's success over the past few years and her
new role is an acknowledgement of the importance of Client Services
in future growth strategies.
"We're delighted
with the direction the company is taking in both Health Management
and Client Service areas," says Crescent CEO, Myrna Harvey.
"Having Sandy join our team is very exciting. She brings a solid
reputation for delivering results, and I can't imagine a better
scenario than having Sandy and Pat working together with the support
of the Crescent team."
Crescent's
healthcare provider network includes more than 1,800 healthcare
professionals as well as 15 regional hospitals. More than 100 major
employers in Western North Carolina use the Crescent network to
provide healthcare for almost 50,000 employees and their families.
