Crescent
Preferred Provider Organization, Inc. is a regional provider-sponsored
preferred provider organization (PPO) covering sixteen counties
in Western North Carolina.

- Membership
company governed by a Board of Trustees made up of ten practicing
physicians, five hospital representatives and three employer representatives.
- Messenger
model process offers employers, Third Party Administrators, and
other third-party organizations opportunity to submit a fee schedule
through Crescent to more than 1900 physicians, 15 hospitals and
a variety of ancillary services. This process allows Crescent
to build a network suitable and acceptable to employers' specific
needs.
- Service
Area: Sixteen counties in Western North Carolina that begin at
Mitchell, McDowell and Rutherford, moving west to the Tennessee
border.

Crescent was
formed in 1999 by a group of providers, representing both physicians
and hospitals, who were driven by the belief that the most effective
method for the provision of healthcare is a collaborative philosophy
involving not only the traditional health providers - but also the
patient, the employer and the community.
These providers
share the belief that the way to add value for our customers is
to utilize physician members as the leaders of regional, community-based
chronic disease management, supported not only in the providers'
offices and hospitals of the region, but through employee education,
employer-sponsored wellness events, and regional and national bench
marking.
