The Truth About Coffee

Right now, you may be consuming an addictive drug called trimethylxanthine.

Actually, it's better known as caffeine.

It's a natural component of both tea and coffee, but coffee has about double the amount found in tea and three time as much as most soft drinks. Caffeine is a mild psychoactive substance which means that it stimulates the central nervous system and makes you more alert. It also boosts the effect of aspirin and some other pain relievers, which is why it's added to some of these drugs.

There's some disagreement among Medical professionals about the effects of caffeine. Some say it should be avoided while others say it has beneficial effects, but moderate amounts of caffeine shouldn't have any adverse effect on healthy people.
