Flu
Shots
The flu
season is here, but it's not too late to get a flu shot - if you
can find one!
The flu season
in the United States is usually from November through April. That's
the time when flu viruses are circulating in the population. However,
some people are nervous about getting a shot because there are still
fears that you can get the flu from getting the shot. Now, it's
true that vaccines for some diseases do contain strains of live
virus, but flu vaccines contain only inactivated or killed virus.
Some people do get sick after receiving a flu vaccine, but during
the winter months, there many other non-flu viruses circulating
that may easily be mistaken for the flu. So, if you didn't get a
flu shot before the holidays, it's not too late to consult your
healthcare provider about getting one now.
