NEWS ARCHIVE 12/8/09: The Crescent Board has announced the acquisition of certain assets of Maggie Valley-based TPA Appalachian Benefit Administrators. Click here for a copy of the media release. There is also a video of Crescent CEO, Myrna Harris and ABA founder, Georgia Sasscer answering questions and discussing the future of the TPA business. 11/5/09: Local TV news channel 13WLOS broadcast a feature story yesterday about people who have died because of a lack of health insurance. 11/3/09: Crescent will host an educational session on Thursday, November 19 about Inclusive Health, the state's high insurance pool. This session is not intended to sign people up for Inclusive Health programs (a separate event will be held at a different location the following day), but is for those in the community who regularly encounter people who cannot get health insurance at an affordable price due to pre-existing conditions or certain other factors. 8/31/09: A news crew from WLOS visited Crescent today to speak to CEO Myrna Harris about healthcare reform. She talked about the effectiveness of wellnes and health management programs and was quoted extensively throughout the news item. Click here to view the WLOS broadcast.
8/13/09: Crescent will again host a combined Open House and Asheville Chamber of Commerce "Business After Hours" on Thursday, August 27th 2009. Our annual Open House has typically been around the Christmas holidays, but we've moved it to the summer and had a much better turnout. The Open House is combined with the Asheville Chamber's popular Business After Hours event to encourage not only our clients, providers and partners to attend, but ALL members of the business community in Buncombe and surrounding counties. The event will be from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. We'll be providing refreshments, including complimentary beer and wine. Click here for directions to the Crescent offices. 2/10/09: The Western North Carolina Association of Health Underwriters (WNCAHU) will host their second "Health Insurance Awareness Event" at Asheville Mall on March 21st, 2009. The event will feature free health screenings and advice for people who don't have health insurance but would like to know about their options.Listen for the announcements on KISS radio and visit WNCAHU.org for moredetails. 1/24/09: Crescent's relationship with the Buncombe County Medical Society is very important, so on Saturday, January 24 Crescent was delighted to sponsor the BCMS Annual Meeting at "On Broadway" in Asheville. The Crescent display was a prominent feature at the event where supporters of the Medical Society turned out to show their support.
