·         Progress Energy’s “Energy Neighbor Fund”
·         American Red Cross

7/7//08: Crescent will host a combined Open House and Asheville Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on Thursday, August 28th 2008. Our annual Open House has typically been around the Christmas holidays, but we moved it to the summer last year and had a much better turnout (almost 100 visitors). This year, we decided to combine our Open House with the popular Business After Hours event to encourage not only our clients, providers and partners but ALL members of the business community in Buncombe and surrounding counties. The event will begin at 3:00pm, with Business After Hours attendees joining us around 5:00pm. As always, we'll be providing refreshments, with the addition of complimentary beer and wine after 5:00pm. Click here for directions to the Crescent offices.

5/23//08: Crescent management announced today that effective immediately, Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is reinstated as part of the Crescent provider network. HRMC was suspended from the network in February after the hospital failed to meet the standards required to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.

“We’re delighted to welcome Haywood Regional back as an active participant in our network,” said Crescent CEO, Myrna Harris. “The Haywood Regional team is to be congratulated on a tremendous job of recovering from this unfortunate situation.”

Harris pointed out that despite HRMC’s problems, many of Crescent’s clients decided to continue treating the hospital as in-network during the CMS recertification process.  However, yesterday’s announcement by CMS paved the way for full reinstatement of the hospital into the Crescent network.

5/6//08: Crescent's CEO Myrna Harris presented information and participated in a panel discussion at the North Carolina Association of Health Underwriters (NCAHU) annual symposium in Winston-Salem last month. The topic was "The Myths and Realities of Self-Funding" and the panel also included Tom Snell of Benefit Edge of the Carolinas and Eric Ludwig, President of Intercative Medical Systems, Inc, among others.

Myrna is the President-Elect of the Western Chapter of NCAHU and will take over duties as President of the Chapter later this year.
