Crescent is Presenting Sponsor of Regional "Walk America" Events. Crescent is the Presenting Sponsor of March of Dimes "Walk America" fundraising events across Western North Carolina in 2006. March of Dimes is a charity dedicated to preventing birth defects caused by premature births. This year, the Crescent team will play a major role by being the Presenting Sponsor at "Walk America" events in Asheville, Sylva, Brevard, Waynesville and Franklin. Look for members of the Crescent team as well as displays and free merchandise at all these events. NEWS: The walk schedule

30th 2006 - Franklin Registration for all walks begins at 9:00am We will also be major participants in the Signature Chefs event and the "Great American Duck Race". More about those later. The Asheville Walk America "Kick Off" breakfast took place Thursday, February 9th 2006. Despite the snowfall outside, attendance was good and as well as some great fundraising tips, it gave all the teams an opportunity to meet the "Ambassador Family", Brian and Mary-Ellen McCutcheon with daughters Tess and Kate. Tess was born in 2002 - due in November but actually born in July and spent the first few months of her life in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Mission Hospital. Much of the treatment she received was a direct result of March of Dimes-funded research.

worthy cause was an amazing $2,272 . . . well done and thanks
to eveyone who contributed time, effort and of course money! MORE NEWS . . . (4/16/06) We had no idea the photos from these walks would be so popuar. Thanks to everyone who has asked for copies - we're making CD's of the photos and if you request one, you can make your own prints. We're having a weekend off for Easter, then it's back into walking mode for April 22nd in Hendersonville. we hope to see you there! ALSO . . . In addition to the Walk Amerca events, the Crescent team raised money for March of Dimes through the sale of $2 raffle tickets for an "Eat & Treat" basket worth more than $500. Details of the drawing. CRESCENT T-SHIRTS . . . The Crescent team (and selected guests) will be wore a unique T-shirt at Walk America events this year. Based on an innovative acronym idea by Kim Fisher, the shirt features an illustration by prominent local artist, Brian Vasilik, whose résumé includes designing the 1999 Bele Chere poster and T-shirt (he borrowed the limelight that year from his mother, frequent Bele Chere artist-in-residence Ann Vasilik), and creating a striking black-and-white logo for the Asheville Center of Performing Arts.
